It's Complicated: Introducing Ethical Reasoning to First Year Students
James Madison University recently launched a new initiative on campus to teach students ethical reasoning skills. This bold new approach aims to teach students to be reflective instead of reflexive when approaching ethical dilemmas. As an introduction to the ethical reasoning process, there is a 75-minute program as a part of summer orientation called It's Complicated. It's Complicated provides students with a case study to review, discuss, and ultimately make tough decisions on how to respond. This presentation reviews this innovative orientation program and its student learning outcomes.
